The Ontario Soccer Summit, in partnership with Respect in Sport, continues to climb in attendance as well as stature.

The Ontario Soccer Summit 2020 set a record for paid attendance this year on the strength of the headlining keynote speaker Victor Montagliani, FIFA Vice President and Concacaf President, who spoke to the Ontario membership about the valuable role their programming is playing in developing Canada’s game.

“We’re tremendously honoured and privileged to have had Mr. Montagliani joining us at the Ontario Soccer Summit 2020. Victor’s leadership in soccer is world-renowned and his insights were of great value to all in attendance,” said Johnny Misley, Ontario Soccer Chief Executive Officer. “We are very grateful to FIFA and Concacaf for their support and allowing Mr. Montagliani to join us and share his messages.”

Attendees were also treated to presenters from the Royal Belgian FA, Celtic FC, Toronto FC, MLS, Canada Soccer, the Canadian Premier League and more.

In total, over 35 speakers from coaching, match officiating and sport leadership disciplines were on hand to help guide attendees on their personal path of development.

“This event continues to shine a light on the good work being done by those in our community,” said Gary Miller, Ontario Soccer Director of Soccer Operations. “The commitment of those in attendance speaks volumes about the dedication of Ontario Soccer’s membership, when it comes to their personal and professional growth.”

On the final day, Peter Augruso, Ontario Soccer President and Chair of the Board of Directors, announced that the Ontario Soccer Summit 2021 will be hosted in Ottawa, in partnership with the Eastern Ontario District Soccer Association. A date will be announced soon.

Representatives from the EODSA and City of Ottawa were on hand to celebrate the announcement.

“We’re looking forward to working with the Ottawa soccer and business community to help continue to build on the track record of success that has now become synonymous with Ontario Soccer and the Ontario Soccer Summit,” said Bjorn Osieck, Ontario Soccer Director of Business Operations.

Ontario Soccer will be releasing videos from select Ontario Soccer Summit sessions over the coming weeks.
