The EODSA is saddened to learn of the passing of one of our
Life Members, Dr. David Norton.
Dave has been heavily involved in soccer within the EODSA
for the last 40+ years. He was a founding member of the National Capital Industrial
Soccer League (NCISL) and their President for 10 years. He then moved along to the
Ottawa Carleton Soccer League (OCSL) and was the Chair of their League Management
Board for 20 year before retiring in 2016. Dave was also a founder of and the first and only President
of the Sunset Lakers SC, a position he had held for 40+ years.
His contributions to soccer in the district were well known
and the NCISL nominated Dave as a Life Member of the EODSA at our 2017 AGM. To
nobody’s surprise, his nomination was unanimously accepted by the EODSA Members
as everyone was excited to recognize his involvement and dedication to soccer
within the EODSA.
Dave had a great passion for the game of soccer and was
always happy to have a chat about soccer at AGMs or while visiting the Soccer Office
at Morrison Drive. Soccer within the EODSA would not be where it is today
without the tremendous contributions and dedication of David Norton.
The EODSA extends our condolences to his wife Elizabeth; son
Jason; eight grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; and the entire Norton
family.
